Frequently Asked Questions
-
Yes, TAG carries full liability insurance at all times.
Are you licensed?
-
Yes, Tom is a fully licensed contractor through the State of Wisconsin. The Dwelling Contractor License # is 1050984 and is in good standing. This license means he has the appropriate insurance for business, has completed the state education requirement for remodelers, and can pull building permits. The laws in Wisconsin have changed in 2008 regarding contractor licensing.
How long have you been in business?
- TAG Improvements has been in business since 2003.
What are the steps in the remodeling process?
-
First, you need to decide what your project will be-how big or small, which rooms in your home, and what your budget is.
-
Next, contact TAG Improvements so we can discuss your project. This step includes a scheduled visit in your home and an exchange of plans/ideas.
-
Then, we will take the information discussed and put it together into a bid. We will then discuss the bid and any changes or questions you have.
-
If you are interested, we will begin working up a contract.
-
Last, once the contract is signed, we will set up a schedule to complete your project.
How long will the project take?
-
This depends largely on the size of the project and the materials being used. Some benchmarks in the remodeling industry include a typical residential kitchen taking 8 weeks start to finish, a bathroom about 4 weeks. TAG always works to keep your space functioning throughout the project as much as possible. These schedules are a rough idea; your project could vary either way depending on special order items, or any other variety of circumstances.
How is payment handled?
-
The contract will spell out payments during the construction process. Typically, we start with a down payment/retainer at contract signing, usually a progress payment at a predetermined point in construction, and the balance upon completion, with any extras that were added during the project. The payment schedule varies with the size of the project. TAG Improvements does take Cash, Checks, Money Orders, Visa and MasterCard. (There is a small additional fee for using credit cards).
How do you schedule projects?
-
Overall, we schedule projects as they are signed. If you wish to sign a contract for a date in the future, we can absolutely accommodate your wishes. When your project begins, TAG tries to focus on your project primarily to keep things moving along. We always take your schedule into consideration when planning the schedule.
What kind of projects does TAG do?
-
We handle everything from re-hanging a screen door to a custom home, and everything in between! Some examples of projects we have worked on in the past include: windows, bathrooms (from a refresh to a complete remodel), kitchens, rec rooms, additions, siding, roofing, insulation, custom carpentry (wine racks, bar areas), tile work. This list is just some ideas of what we do-use your imagination, and we will work with you on just about anything!
Are you willing to work with a homeowner who likes to help?
-
Absolutely! If you have some skill in a certain area, that is great, we are happy to work with you. TAG can take care of any portion of a project you are not comfortable with completing yourself.
Are you a one-stop shop for a larger project?
-
Yes. TAG specializes in full service on all phases of construction. We work with a designer, and other highly qualified companies and suppliers like us to complete your project.
Are you a member of the Better Business Bureau?
-
Yes, TAG Improvements is a member of the Better Business Bureau of Wisconsin. You can access their website to see our good standing. http://wisconsin.bbb.org
Are estimates free?
-
Estimates are generally free of charge-this is a brainstorming step where we throw ideas around and learn more about the project you have in mind. If further steps are needed, there are fees involved with design and construction.
